When you see the Zeichen

Zeichen 314.2 marks the end of the previously signposted parking management zone. From this point onward, its requirements, such as the obligation to use a parking ticket or parking disc, no longer apply; however, pay attention to any immediately following traffic signs and the general parking rules.

Rules

  • The sign only ends the parking management zone established by Zeichen 314.1.
  • The requirement within the zone to use a parking ticket, parking disc or another designated parking permit ends at Zeichen 314.2.
  • The sign does not automatically permit stopping or parking; Haltverbot, Parkverbot, road markings and statutory prohibitions continue to apply.
  • New local regulations or Zusatzzeichen beyond the sign must be observed independently of the zone that has ended.

Tips

  • After the sign, check whether a new parking sign, Haltverbot or other signage follows.
  • Do not remove a parking ticket too soon if you are still within the zone; the vehicle's location is what matters.
  • At zone exits in particular, remember that the sign does not end a speed limit or the geschlossene Ortschaft.

Common misunderstandings

  • !The sign is understood as the general end of all Parkverbot and Haltverbot.
  • !Learners assume that parking is permitted everywhere beyond the sign free of charge and without a time limit.
  • !The sign is confused with the rear side of an Ortstafel, even though it indicates neither the end of the built-up area nor a change in the permitted maximum speed.

Exam tip

A typical exam trap is whether parking is automatically permitted beyond Zeichen 314.2. The correct answer is: only the zone-wide parking management ends; other signage and statutory Haltverbot and Parkverbot remain in force.

Did you know

Zeichen 314.2 is the counterpart to Zeichen 314.1 and is typically placed at the exits of a parking management zone, so that the parking conditions applying throughout the zone do not have to be cancelled individually on every road.

Frequently asked questions

May I park free of charge directly beyond Zeichen 314.2?

Not automatically. Free parking is only possible if there is no new fee requirement and no other Haltverbot or Parkverbot applies there.

Does Zeichen 314.2 cancel a limited or absolute Haltverbot?

No. It only ends the parking management zone; separately ordered Haltverbot remains effective within its respective area of validity.

Does a required use of a parking disc also end with the sign?

Yes, if the parking disc requirement was part of the parking management zone that began earlier. However, a parking disc requirement newly ordered beyond the sign must still be observed.

Does Zeichen 314.2 change the permitted speed?

No. The sign concerns only parking management and ends neither a speed limit nor the geschlossene Ortschaft.
