Prohibited for motorcycles and mopeds
The sign indicates that it is prohibited for motorcycles and mopeds.
When you see the sign
If you are riding a motorcycle or moped, you must not proceed past the sign. Choose another permitted route and follow any supplementary signs that limit or make exceptions to the prohibition.
Rules
- The prohibition applies to both motorcycles and mopeds.
- Other vehicles, such as passenger cars, are not covered by this sign alone.
- The prohibition applies in the direction of travel from the point where the sign is installed.
- A supplementary sign may indicate that the prohibition applies only at specific times, along certain sections, or under specific conditions.
Tips
- Look for an alternative route early if you are riding a motorcycle or moped.
- Do not confuse the symbol with a general prohibition on all motor vehicles.
- Always read any supplementary signs before deciding whether the prohibition applies.
- Avoid stopping suddenly at the sign; reduce your speed in a controlled manner and turn around or choose another route at a lawful location.
Common misconceptions
- Some people think the sign prohibits all motor vehicles, but passenger cars and lorries are not covered by the sign alone.
- Some overlook that the prohibition also applies to mopeds, not just motorcycles.
- Some assume that the sign applies only to heavy motorcycles, but the meaning of the regulations does not distinguish between motorcycles based on size or power.

Yes, this sign alone does not prohibit driving a passenger car. Other signs, supplementary signs or traffic regulations may nevertheless restrict access.
