Fuel
Fuel sign where the type is indicated by text on the sign, here LPG.
When you see the sign
The sign indicates that you can find a fuel facility offering LPG at or near the road. If you need to refuel with LPG, plan your exit well in advance, follow any local signs and only use the facility if the vehicle has an approved LPG system.
Rules
- Sign 610.1 is a service sign indicating that LPG is available at or near the road.
- The sign provides information but does not require you to stop or refuel.
- The text «LPG» indicates the type of fuel and distinguishes the sign from sign 610 for a general fuel facility and sign 610.2 for CNG.
- The sign does not grant any special right of way; when turning off to the facility, you must follow the usual traffic rules and any other signs.
Tips
- Reduce your speed in a controlled manner and use your turn signal well in advance if you intend to turn off to the LPG facility.
- Look for a distance indication or arrow on an associated sign to find the correct exit.
- Check that the vehicle's filling system and any adapter are compatible with the facility before you start refuelling.
- Follow the safety instructions at the refuelling facility and switch off the engine before refuelling.
Common misconceptions
- Some people think that the sign indicates a regular petrol station that always offers petrol and diesel, but it specifically indicates access to LPG.
- LPG is often confused with CNG. LPG is liquefied petroleum gas, while CNG is compressed natural gas or biogas.
- Some interpret the sign as an obligation to stop, but it only provides information about a service available.
