Combined direction sign
The sign shows places or establishments that can be reached via a common route choice at subsequent junctions or an exit.
When you see the sign
Find out whether your destination is one of the places or businesses listed on the sign. Follow the common route indicated by the sign at the next junction or exit, and be prepared for the destinations to be signposted separately later on.
Rules
- All the places or businesses listed on the sign are reached by taking the same road at the next junction or exit.
- The sign provides direction guidance, but does not itself introduce a give-way requirement, priority, lane-use rule or any other traffic rule.
- The samleskilt does not mean that the destinations are in the same place; they may diverge further ahead.
- The driver must still follow arrows, road markings, lane signals and other signs at the junction or exit itself.
Tips
- Read the list early and look for the name of the place or business you are travelling to.
- Choose the common direction first, then look for more detailed direction guidance after the junction or exit.
- Do not make a sudden manoeuvre if you notice your destination too late; continue legally and find a safe alternative route.
- Do not use the position of the names on the sign as a lane indication unless other signs or arrows explicitly show lane use.
Common misconceptions
- Thinking that each name on the sign indicates a separate exit or direction. The point is that all the listed destinations share the same route initially.
- Thinking that the sign shows which lane to use. It is not a lane-orientation sign or a lane direction sign.
- Assuming that the destination is immediately after the junction. The sign only provides information about the common route, not the distance to each destination.

Theory test tip
A typical trap is to interpret each line as a separate direction or lane. On sign 731, the main point is that all the listed places or businesses are reached via the same route at a subsequent junction or exit.
Did you know
Samleskilt is used to reduce the number of individual direction signs where many local places or businesses are reached via the same road. This makes the signage clearer and reduces the amount of information presented before the junction.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to turn as soon as I see the samleskilt?
No. The sign indicates a common route at a subsequent junction or exit. Follow the arrows and other direction guidance until you reach the place where you actually need to change direction.
Does the sign mean that all the destinations are in the same area?
No. It only means that they are reached by taking the same road initially. The destinations may be in different places and have their own direction signs later on.
What is the difference between a samleskilt and a tabellorienteringstavle?
The samleskilt groups places or businesses that share the same route initially. A tabellorienteringstavle provides information about directions and destinations before a junction, usually arranged in a table format.
Does the samleskilt determine which lane I should use?
No, not on its own. Lane choice must be determined based on lane-orientation signs, lane direction signs, arrows, road markings and other signage.
